On Saturday 30th January, Totton & Eling Cricket Academy embraced their open session where 23 young players attended with the aspiration to be selected for the winter indoor training programme.

After the two initial 30 minute warm-up and extensive fielding drill sessions, led by Dave Gelling and Billy Taylor, the session moved to a 90 minute full Bowling/Batting Net session.

The hard work then started after the open session had finished with the task of trimming the initial 23 attendees down to preferred 12.
After a short discussion, all the coaches were in agreement that owing to the high standard of the young players, the winter indoor training programme squad needed to be a balanced squad of 16.

The following players have been invited to take part in the TEC Cricket Academy's Indoor Winter Training Programme:

Batsmen: Tom Beresford, Luke Mooney, Ed Moore, Tom Arnold.
Wicket-keepers: RJ Daley, Ben Pinkney.
All-rounder: Callum Holloway.
Bowlers: Josh Armstrong, Will Moore, Ben Morgan, Brendan Reis, Dan Rides. David Steadman.
Spinners: Joe Cartwright, Harry Smith, Sam Thorne.

The coaches look forward to seeing the selected players at the first training session on Saturday 6th February at the Testwood Sports College starting at 2pm with a reminder to be there for 1.45pm.

For the unfortunate players who didn't gain a place at this stage, TECC confirm that we will continue to monitor their progress at Totton & Eling CC Indoor Training sessions on Thursday evenings and through their respective clubs ahead of selecting the TEC Academy squad for the summer programme.
