Calmore vs. Totton & Eling

Report supplied by Steve Cummings

Match report 27/05/10

After last weeks close game we went into this game with high hopes of a decent performance, with getting the extras down a priority. With the addition of Sam, Callum, and Charlie all from the undefeated u11 side we won the toss and bowled first.

Matt and Dan again took the new ball and proceeded to give a great display of disciplined line and length bowling against 2 representative batsmen. Their figures of;4-0-14-0 and 4-0-15-0 retrospectively gave us a great start !

Steadily Calmore went on to build a competitive total but not a commanding one due to the fine efforts of our bowlers and  special praise for Callum who took 3-0-21-3.

With this we were confident of beating this very good Calmore side and again we got of to a flying start with Ollie and George looking good until old bad habits crept back with a poor run out, unfortunately we never really recovered and despite Rory’s best efforts with a spirited 14 we kept losing wickets at bad times and eventually couldn’t keep up with the rate and even though we batted down to the last ball we could only muster 84 runs.

Looking at the positives, everyone is getting a chance to perform and the spirit amongst the lads is fantastic. Our support is the best in the league and most importantly on my part is that we only bowled 19 extras!!!!!.
