Wellow B vs. Totton & Eling
Report supplied by Steve Cummings
Match report 14/06/10
And after some concern over the current conditions the game managed to start with Wellow winning the toss and putting us into bat.
Continuing on from their
promising start last week the two ‘Ollie’s’ formed an impressive opening stand,
only to be cut short by Ollie H attempt to hit another pull for 4,which ended up
in mid –wickets hands. Which was a shame, as these two are looking good as an
opening pair. But at the moment we are positive
throughout the top order and Ollie’s loss was Rory’s gain as he started to
impose himself on the suspect Wellow attack. After a solid partnership Ollie M
fell to a good lbw shout. But should be happy with his performance with a
chanceless 19. In came George and through the next
few overs he and Rory continued to take advantage of some indifferent Wellow
bowling. Eventually both retiring on 30, and with a quick fire 18 from Dan,
which included a fantastic 6,we eventually were all out for 143. A great total
helped with 34 extras from Wellow.
Still as the gloomy weather loomed over us the continuation of the game was in doubt, especially voices of concern were heard from the Wellow end. We decided not hang around and with confirmation from both umpires the game continued, and all together as a unit we produced a Fantastic bowling performance with the highlights being
m.hunt..3-0-6-1…g.Edmondson.3-0-5-1…. j.mills.3-1-1-1 and Ben taking 2-1-2-5
But the most satisfying part of the performance was the way the lads listened to Brett and changed ends so quick that I was unable to catch up with the scoring.
We raced through the overs and limited Wellow to 56 for 6 of 18 overs.
This was an important victory as the points earned meant that we were moving closer to the top half of the table.
A great result considering the conditions.
