The Under 9 team played their first competitive match on Friday against Bashley A. Winning the toss we put Bashley in to bat. Our bowling was a little wayward and we conceded wides at a rate of 1 or 2 an over which, aided by strong batting from the final Bashley pair gave us a total of 300 to chase.

 

Going into bat Ethan and Alfie got us of to a good start. Liam & Jude batting second played some nice shots and moved the score along. Matt & Ryan gained in confidence as their innings progressed. Molly and Mashall enlivened proceedings with an entertaining display of batting and running between the stumps taking us to a final score of 244

 

Despite the teams best efforts the were beaten by a more experienced Bashley side.

 

The team showed great spirit and enthusiasm.
