22nd July at 18:30

Totton & Eling Under 11s – 111/9 beat Pylewell Park Under 11s – 91 ao by 20 runs…
In this much anticipated New Forest Cup first round fixture where both teams fielded 5 or more District players it was the visitors who came out as victors amidst the picturesque setting of Pylewell manor grounds on a bitterly cold & windy yet sunny Monday evening. PP won the toss and chose to bowl and were rewarded with a prize wicket of Taylor in the first over. T&E regrouped through Cheater & Lightfoot taking the total to 22 before Lightfoot held out for a boundary strewn 16. Ryan Carty came out at 4 and joined Tom Cheater and together they added a commendable 47 runs before Cheater retired with an excellent 27. Carty stuck around and received commendable support from the middle to lower order, namely Bedford 8 & Collins 6, and was eventually removed in the final over for a patient 22. T&E posted 111/9 off their 18 overs which was a good score but not unassailable on a small ground. T&E came out strong with opening bowlers Carty & Taylor sending
Pylewell’s top 3 batters back to the pavilion within the first 3 overs. Although Pylewell showed strong middle over resolve Totton never seemed in danger of conceding victory eventually dismissing the home team in the last over for 91. Taylor 2/10, Carty 2/10, Lightfoot 2/20 proved to be the stand out bowlers with solid support from Cheater 1/20 & Collins 1/5… Well done to players & parents for braving the cold and getting the job done!
